Police Scotland did not provide an update on the 15-year-old boy who was arrested but said enquires are ongoing.

Amen’s family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson said: “Our thoughts remain with Amen’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“I would also like to thank the community for their support so far. Our investigation continues and I would ask anyone, who may have information which could help us and who has not yet come forward, to please contact us.”

Superintendent Christopher Stewart said: “We are continuing to support Amen’s family and continue to engage with the local community affected by this incident. There will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area and I would urge anyone with questions or concerns to approach a local officer – they are there to help.”

Amen was a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Glasgow.

He was a bright pupil with an interest in music and media, his headteacher Claire McInally said.

“This is a tragic situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amen’s family and friends at this devastating time,” she said.

“Amen was a friendly and much-loved young man who was really interested in music and the media. He was bright and showed great promise.

“This has been a shock for our school community, and we are continuing to offer support to our young people, staff and those in the wider community who are affected.”
