A driver charged in connection with a fatal crash in Nigeria, which killed two passengers and injured boxer Anthony Joshua, has appeared in court.
Joshua, a two-time world champion, was travelling in the back of a black Lexus SUV when it struck a stationary truck on a major road, near Nigeria’s largest city Lagos, on 29 December.
His friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami were killed.
Ghami was Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was a trainer and described as being like a “twin brother” to Joshua.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention and driving without a valid national driver’s licence.
Kayode appeared at Sagamu Magistrate Court in southwestern Ogun State on Tuesday.
The case was adjourned until 25 February at the prosecution’s request.
