The royal couple posted an image of themselves dressed casually, holding hands, and sitting on a blanket in the woods, as William kisses Kate on the cheek.

The picture is a still taken from the video released last year when the Princess of Wales announced her cancer treatment had ended.

It was posted to their X account with a heart emoji.

It is the first time the couple, who were married in 2011, have released a photograph to mark Valentine’s Day.

It comes after, over the last year, Kate has undergone abdominal surgery, been diagnosed with cancer and faced chemotherapy treatment.

She has been returning to public engagements since November when she published a deeply personal video to announce that her chemotherapy had come to an end.

The video showed her spending time with her husband, Prince William, and their three children, as she said her focus was on “staying cancer free”.

William described 2024 as “brutal” and probably “the hardest year” of his life.

The pair met at St Andrews University in Scotland and have now been together for more than 20 years.

William said in their engagement interview: “Obviously we both have a very fun time together, both have a very good sense of humour about things.”

The princess called him a “loving boyfriend” who was “very supportive of me through the good times and also through the bad times”.
