A Scottish newspaper editor has appeared in court charged in connection with alleged indecent online communications.
David McCann, editor of The Times and The Sunday Times in Scotland, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at a property in the Edinburgh area on 25 November.
The 43-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 26 November.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody before being granted bail the following day.
McCann was promoted to editor of the News UK titles in July, having previously served as deputy editor and news editor.
Before joining the company in 2018, he previously worked as assistant editor and head of news at The Herald, and assistant news editor at the Daily Record.
He also held various roles at the Edinburgh Evening News.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Tuesday 25 November 2025, officers executed a search warrant at a property in the Edinburgh area.
“A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with indecent online communications.”

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) said a standard prosecution report had been received from the force.
