The Czech winger, 27, was spotted spraying rival fans with a water bottle as he raced along the touchline in excitement over teammate Hamza Igamane’s last-gasp winner.

Sky Sports captured the incident as the cameras panned to Barry Ferguson to get the reaction of Rangers’ interim manager.

The actions of Cerny – who is on loan from German side Wolfsburg – sparked a furious reaction from the Hoops supporters, with police and security forced to step in to defuse the situation.

Police Scotland launched a probe into the incident. But the force concluded “no criminality has been established”.

A spokesperson added: “Officers have engaged with the club and advice was given.”

Although police enquiries have come to an end, Cerny could still face Scottish FA (SFA) punishment.

Rangers have been contacted for comment.

The Old Firm game at Celtic Park on 16 March ended in heartbreak for the home team.

Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande put the visitors 2-0 up ahead of half-time before Celtic’s Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate levelled the match.

Igamane’s stunning strike after 88 minutes settled the clash, but Rangers currently remain 13 points behind Brendan Rodgers’ men in the Scottish Premiership title race.

When asked about the “watergate” incident, Rodgers said he understood the jubilation but accused Cerny of showing a “lack of respect”.

He added: “I certainly wouldn’t want my players to do it.”
